Title: Our Spirit Survived

Project Description: The project provides a one week healing workshop to communities within Alberta.  The workshop is delivered by well-trained, professional, facilitators who are knowledgeable and understanding of the impacts of Residential School on individuals, families and communities.  The workshop is intended to provide participants with the opportunity to share their experiences from Residential School in a safe environment and its impact in their own lives; to build community spirit and healthy relationships with others; and to share information/resources with participants to begin the journey of healing from the impacts of Residential School. With guidance from an Elder and the facilitators, Residential School Survivors learn healthy, positive affirming ways of moving through their pain using holistic and academic approaches. Resources and information are provided to participants to continue their healing journey once the workshop is completed within their community.
