Project Title:

I da wa da di Project

Project Description:

The I da wa da di Project works with Aboriginal women who are suffering from the Legacy of physical and sexual abuse in residential schools including intergenerational impacts through the provision of therapeutic culture based groups, traditional spiritual environments and residential healing retreats. The women learn about the origins of abuse and dysfunction, and the history of residential schools, to understand how the schools have contributed to the high degree of dysfunction amongst Aboriginal families and communities. Through any combination of two 8-Week Circle of Healing Programs, four 3-Day Fasting Retreats, three 4-Day Healing Retreats and one 1-Day Training Workshop, the women learn how they can change their behaviour, develop healthier relationships and begin to resolve the childhood trauma of abuse and of growing up in families made dysfunctional by the residential school Legacy.
