Project Title:  The Couchiching Healing Centre offers a residential treatment service to serve the special needs of sexually aggressive or intrusive young aboriginal males.  The youth will be in the residential program for 12 months with six months follow-up, although length of stay and follow-up can be adjusted to the needs of the client.  The treatment program is modeled after the Phoenix Program in Calgary, Alberta, an accredited program for the treatment of adolescent sexual offenders. The major components of the healing program include an initial assessment and individual, group and family therapies within a culturally sensitive Aboriginal framework which includes: Cycle of Abuse Groups, Psycho-Sexual Education Groups, Individual Therapy, Family Therapy, Expressive and Adjunct Therapies (recreational and wilderness activities, drama and art therapy), Relapse Prevention Treatment, Family and Community Re-integration, and Healing Circle and One-to-one Opportunities with an elder (sweat lodge, elder's teachings, women/men teachings, shaking tents ceremonies, medicine wheel teachings, rights of passage when applicable and authorized).
