Project Title:
Mushkegowuk Youth Restoring Balance Project
Project Description: The project will address healing needs related to the Legacy by providing Community Gatherings for the youth of the seven First Nations to develop their awareness about the Residential School Experience and its impacts while exploring healing strategies; encouraging youth to develop a quarterly newsletter and submit articles, stories, poems, etc., which express their experiences with Residential School impacts, healing and the project; providing group, one on one counselling and referrals to youth with appropriate care givers, therapists, clinicians, psychologists, etc.; developing knowledge and awareness of traditional teachings, practices and knowledge from First Nations Elders; and, developing and offering physical activities and alternate therapies to youth to begin to heal their bodies and promote well being.
