Project Title: The Prairie Haven Urban Aboriginal Healing Program
Project Description: The Prairie Youth and Family Healing Foundation Inc. contracts Prairie Haven Therapy to deal with Inner Child and Core Issues. The healing model used during the treatment of Survivors is based on uncovering and healing the core issues. When the underlying unresolved pain from the abuse and displacement caused by Residential Schools is understood the healing journey begins.
The Prairie Haven Urban Aboriginal Healing Program involves 4 steps:
1) Intake counselling sessions;
2 ) A 4 day Intensive Therapy Workshop: Childhood Story, Adolescent/Teen Story, Adult Story shared in group settings. Individuals learn the Impact the past has had on themselves and their families. They are taught tools to change their behaviour and make positive changes in their lives;
3) Weekly Counselling/Support Sessions;
4) Counselling/Support.
